چکیده

by the tumor mass, such as anterior pituitary dysfunctions, visual field alterations, cephalalgia and ophthalmoplegia, the last two present in this patient. The association of ophthalmoplegia and cephalalgia is described as a sign of probable metastasis. Pituitary metastases are rare, but should be included in the differential diagnosis of invasive sellar lesions, especially if associated with ophthalmoplegia, ptosis and DI.

A comparative Study of Hemodynamic Effects, Recovery Pattern and Seizure Activity of Propofol, Ketofol and Etomidate in Modified Electroconvulsive Therapy

Introduction: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a widely used and safe evidence based intervention in modern psychiatry as a treatment for a variety of psychiatric disorders. The choice of anesthetic agent may influence recovery pattern, hemodynamic effects, seizure activity, cognitive functions and cost-effectiveness of the procedure. There is relative paucity of literature in this regard. Gi...

GABAergic compensation in connexin36 knock-out mice evident during low-magnesium seizure-like event activity.

Gap junctions within the cerebral cortex may facilitate cortical seizure formation by their ability to synchronize electrical activity. To investigate this, one option is to compare wild-type (WT) animals with those lacking the gene for connexin36 (Cx36 KO); the protein that forms neuronal gap junctions between cortical inhibitory cells. However, genetically modified knock-out animals may exhib...

Intracarotid etomidate is a safe alternative to sodium amobarbital for the Wada test.

BACKGROUND The Wada procedure (the intracarotid amobarbital procedure) has been used widely to evaluate the hemispheric dominance of language and memory before temporal lobe surgery in patients with medically refractory seizures. Because of repeated shortage of sodium amobarbital, attempts have been made to find a suitable alternative to sodium amobarbital. The aim of our study was to review ou...

اثر پروپوفول و اتومیدیت بر طول مدت تشنج و پاسخ های همودینامیک حین تشنج درمانی الکتریکی

Aim and Background: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is considered as the most effective treatment method for major depression and psychiatric disorders. Significant hemodynamic changes occur in patients treated with ECT and the duration of seizure after ECT is considered as an important factor in the success of this treatment method. This study aimed to compare the effect of etomidate and prop...

Comparison of electromyographic activity of shoulder muscles during two different pull-up test methods

Pull-up and modified pull-up tests are frequently used for shoulder muscles endurance evaluation by physical educators. Despite of using these tests, the difference of muscle activation pattern in pull-up and modified pull-up tests has not been documented clearly. However, the role of some important muscles such as anterior deltoid, posterior deltoid, trapezius and latissimus dorsi have no...
